Our aim as a club is to have all our adult helpers and coaches be aware of how to use the defibrillator located at Trumpington Sports Centre.

What is a cardiac arrest?

A cardiac arrest is when your heart suddenly stops pumping blood around your body. The BHF explain the signs, causes, treatment, and how it's different from a heart attack. It can happen to anyone, at any time. Every year in the UK there are around 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests - 12 each week are under the age of 35. Currently, less than one in 10 people who experience a cardiac arrest out of hospital survive.

Restart a Heart Day

Restart a Heart Day raises awareness about cardiac arrest and helps people to learn CPR, giving them life saving skills and the confidence to use them.

The Resuscitation Council UK along with the British Heart Foundation, British Red Cross, St John Ambulance and NHS Ambulance Service work together to help raise awareness of cardiac arrest and teach CPR.

In 2019, an amazing 291,000 were trained in CPR through Restart a Heart Day. The next Restart a Heart Day will take place on or aorund 16th October each year.

The Secret Life of Us

Nearly half of the British public (43%) don’t know anyone who is disabled and are unaware of the challenges they face.

Currently, there is an unacceptable contrast between the quality of life and the opportunities available to disabled children and their families, compared to those without disabilities.

The Disabled Children's Partnership exists to address this and campaign for improved health and social care for disabled children, young people and their families.
